OLI was successful in securing a contract for development and delivery of Certificate II, Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma level courses for one of Queensland’s largest government departments.

The client required delivery to occur in the workplace using print-based and online learning and delivery strategies. Participants were to receive formal recognition of existing skills, using a self-assessment process. Assessment was to be conducted in the workplace, using the client’s qualified workplace assessors.

Key features of the delivery platform were to include:

• an online interface between learner and facilitator
• an electronic forum for workplace assessors
• ease of use by the participants, that is, learners would need little training to use the system
• tracking and reporting available to program coordinators.

As the project involved a phased approach, initial communication and consultation strategies with the client were essential and informed the instructional plans for product design and development for print resources and the online portal to support online delivery.

Successful outcomes were achieved for the client by combining the skills and knowledge of personnel within the OLI units to provide an integrated approach to resource development and delivery of training, using a workplace learning model.

OLI staff are continuing to work with the client to provide continued support to this project and are now collaborating on new initiatives for the organisation.
